About

I grew up feeling as if I had to do everything for myself.  My brother and I were latchkey kids.  Responsible, resourceful and creative.  By the time I was in elementary school, we would come home from school and we would have to figure out how to entertain ourselves, feed ourselves, make sure we were safe.  Those days and every minute seems like preparation for the rest of my life.

In baseball, some of the best of all time were what historians call “five tool players.”  For most of my life, this is what I have considered myself, too.  I can move from mode to mode without much friction.  Survivalist to Creative all in the same meeting.  Philosopher to Pragmatic in the same sentence.  Designer and Doer on the same project.  I have never felt constrained by the norms of what should be nor felt the need to disrepect tradition, either.  These qualities and skills have led me to a wild and wonderful life.

I have been fortunate to apply my style of thinking to my professional and personal life, equally.  As an entrepreneur, I can create the solutions necessary to solve a thorny problem.  As a partner, I can see the forest for the trees and then do the work to build bridges.  As a parent, I recognize that each situation is different and requires individual attention, yet consistency is also required.  As a citizen, I strive for a more equitable and just society while recognizing that the whole thing is a work in progress.  And as a human, I recognize the need to be love while also seeing all the anger in the universe.

As a way of offering an insight into all these areas of my life, experience, thoughts and work, I have put together this site so that we may share together in the conversations, work and creativity that have become my passions.
